I ran across another slick theme, its called SlickNess, It is actually pretty slick, reminds me of the Ubuntu Studio theme with a few nice improvements, let me know what you think.
This baby is easy to install, here are the directions:
To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop from here
2.Right click the file and select extract here
3.open a terminal and run these commands:
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themessudo chmod 777 /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/Slickness.jpgThird (this one fixes firefox, This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chromeOpen the theme manager, you can now see the Slickness theme as a theme when you click on it , it suggests a wallpaper, click apply to apply the wallpaper!
the icon theme it suggests is this one:
black-white 2 Style big
Save the file in ~/.icons and extract the archive and go into System->Prefs->Appearance and Customize the Slickness theme and select icons and then black-white_style big and your done :)
Enjoy
Good. But if you switch to another theme, FF menus are greyed out
ReplyDeleteHow do you undo the firefox grey-out?
ReplyDeletenavigate to $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome and delete the userChrome.css file you copied there.
ReplyDeleteThis will return firefox to its default css
tried that.. unfortunately that doesn't seem to work. =\
ReplyDeleteMake sure firefox isn't referencing the chrome that you deleted. Look up the information in about:config search for chrome in the filter. The setting called browser.chromeURL should be set to chrome://browser/content/
ReplyDeleteif that doesn't work you are probably loading the wrong profile in firefox. goto yourhomedir/.mozilla/firefox open the profiles.ini look at the default profile see if its looking in the wrong dir. (not likely if you do the about:config method above)
Is there any reason why you mak ethe Slickness.jpg file executable and writable by all? 644 should be better than 777 here.
ReplyDeleteLike the look generally. Not the font size/style or the power button icon. It would be nice to find a less busy background as well.
ReplyDeleteI am not too fond of the icon theme as well, although the theme itself is pretty hot :)
